Trauma-Informed Therapy

1100711693It happened again.

You lost your temper and became angry with your child.

When things become difficult, you lose your patience and start screaming as your parents did with you.

Once you calm down and think about what happened, you realize that you were tired as you worked all day, your child is also tired, and doing homework at 8:00 pm made matters worse.

You don’t know what happens to you. It is as if you are taken over by something.

You can’t believe that you became that which you feared growing up.

The effects of trauma can spill into many areas of our life.

Trauma makes it very hard to have healthy relationships with yourself and others as you can get triggered by and react in ways that might have been familiar to you.

Many of us take how we grew up for granted and have normalized many traumatic experiences as part of life. We did this to survive difficult things that happened to us, our families, and our countries of origin.

Experiences such as abuse (physical, sexual, emotional), neglect, separation from your family, poverty, racism, discrimination, oppression, and violence in your community can leave a traumatic wound in your psyche.

You might feel unsafe and betrayed, and trusting people is difficult.

This makes some people angry, aggressive, and shameful, which opens the door to isolation. And often, it makes you feel like something is wrong with you.

Great question!

Trauma-informed care shifts the focus from “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

At Alba Center, you will find a place where you will feel safe, supported, and understood.

We will help you separate from what happened to you so you can start living your best life.

When trauma happens to us, it leaves a story we must challenge and reframe. It often tells us that what happened was our fault or that we should have done something different. We will teach you how to confront these stories and connect with the part of you that needs support and understanding.

Generational trauma can be traced through your family history, and the stories of our ancestors can be seen through photographs, so we invite you to share these with us. Creating a collage where we can see the myth of your family as a way to find your healthy self.

Tracing the feminine and masculine energy to find the places where they were devalued or overvalued will allow you to make room for transformation and healing.

We will help in your journey.

Rewrite your story and become whole

Shed what no longer serves you and connect with who you truly are.

The moment you step out of what you think you are, you can be guided by the divine energy that has always been part of you.
