Alba Center is a safe, supportive, and accepting space.
The never-ending process of coming out…
You finally feel comfortable with your identity.
You worked so hard to get here. You are out!
But you look ahead at dating, getting a new job, or interacting with new people and some family members, and you have to figure out if there is room for you.
Fear and rejection concerning your identity make it difficult to say what you need and talk openly with others.
You wonder if you can show up as your genuine self or if you must hide yourself to feel safe.
Here you are… back at the beginning negotiating between being yourself and your well-being.
Did I come out at all? How many times do I have to do this?!?
The ghosts from the past visit again.
You grew up being told that who you are is unacceptable and that you must change and be like others. Your family didn’t understand and responded to you with intolerance and a lack of support.
You survived by suppressing your identity to fit in or protecting yourself, as you know what can happen when others discover your secret.
And yes, you fit in, but you are no longer you.
The anxiety and depression that occupied so much of yourself are back again. It feels like they never left, making you feel disconnected from your body and soul and trapped in your head.
You wonder if you are doing something wrong, why you are here again…
Find a way to connect with your true self.
Therapy is a place where you can find yourself and connect with all the amazing aspects of what makes you.
At Alba Center, we have created a space where we are very intentional about your safety, comfort, and well-being. We want to support you and, most importantly, affirm you in being you, all of you.
Whether you have been out your whole life or thinking about coming out, transitioning, or exploring consensual non-monogamy, LGBTQIA+ Affirming Therapy can positively impact your relationship with you and your well-being. Therapy will help you feel more confident to express yourself and have healthier relationships.
Our approach to therapy is strength-based, recognizing that trauma might also be part of your journey. Gently, we will help you heal parts of yourself that might be causing you pain while we support your growth as you develop healthier ways of becoming your true self.
Together, we can explore topics of sexuality, gender, and identity. We will teach you coping skills to work through issues of discrimination and oppression and help you navigate relationships, family, and cultural challenges.
We use movement, art, and sand play to help you identify your attachment style to discover your identity and navigate your relationships.
Our mission is to remove barriers that the LGBTQA+ community experiences in getting access to healing and to help you connect with your emotional self. You heal with self-compassion and support.
You will learn how to embrace all aspects of yourself. This will help you be prepared to step into your life with the ability to communicate your feelings, thoughts, and needs to others, set healthy boundaries, and find the meaning of your experience as you connect with your full self.
We also support allies as they sometimes struggle with feelings of loss and confusion and are scared about their loved ones. The process of adapting and being able to affirm also involves getting the support they need. Family therapy is a place where we can help you create an emotionally healthy family where issues of culture are addressed as well.
You deserve a space to express yourself genuinely…
… and get the support you need.
You don’t have to suffer any longer. Finding your voice while you feel supported, cared for, and understood is possible. Let us provide that for you.
